Gibson nets hat trick, leads Campbellford to 11-1 win over Deseronto

Mitch Gibson lifted the Campbellford Rebels to an 11-1 victory with a hat trick against the Deseronto Storm.

Gibson got on the scoresheet 2:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:18 into the second and at 7:28 into the third.

Deseronto's power play was ineffective against Campbellford's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Rebels forced the Storm's goaltenders to work in net, firing 40 shots and forcing 29 saves. Dan Corrigan made 16 stops and Cody Dafoe made 13. Campbellford put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Deseronto to score on any of its seven power plays. The Rebels bested their season scoring average. Campbellford has scored at the pace of 5.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Campbellford additionally got points from Ryan Crowley, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Hunter Fargey, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Josh Adams, who also had one goal and three assists, and Jon Samis, who also registered two goals and one assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Connor Turland as well. More assists for Campbellford came via Tyler McKown, who had three and Seamus McDougall, Dylan Baxter, and Levi George, who each chipped in one.

The Storm were led by Jordan Cannons, who scored the team's only goal. Cannons scored 12:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Campbellford. Cody Stapley assisted on the tally.

Cole Mahoney made 23 saves for the Rebels on 24 shots. Campbellford incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Deseronto incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Storm ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Conrad Charlton was ejected from the game.
