Amherstview vanquishes Campbellford in shootout, 4-3 (2-0 SO)Empire Jr. C Sun, Sep 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Amherstview Jets defeated the Campbellford Rebels in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO). The two teams needed four turns to complete the shootout. In addition to the clincher, Amherstview got a shootout goal from Brandon Gilmour.The Jets overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Amherstview trailed 3-2 after a goal by Campbellford's Ryan Crowley at 10:33 in the third period. The Jets tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Liam Vanburen at 19:15 in the third period. Amherstview was sparked by Chad McCutcheon, who registered one goal. McCutcheon scored on the power play 9:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amherstview. The Jets had taken the advantage when the Rebels' Crowley got sent off for cross checking. Dustin Kennedy picked up the assist. Amherstview excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Jets forced Campbellford goalie Amos Lloyd to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Amherstview also got a goal from Cassidy Bruni as well. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Gilmour, who had one. The Rebels kept Amherstview's goalie busy throughout the game, and James DAndrea made 44 saves on 47 shots. Campbellford was led by Hunter Fargey, who finished with two goals. Fargey scored the first of his two goals at 6:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford. Jon Samis provided the assist. Fargey's next tally made the score 2-2 with 1:08 left in the second period. Seamus McDougall picked up the assist. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Steven Clarke and Levi George, who each chipped in one. The Jets totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Amherstview ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brody Taylor was ejected from the game. Amos Lloyd made 27 saves for the Rebels on 30 shots. Campbellford incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Rebels, Chris Roy was ejected from the game.
