Port Hope holds on for 4-3 win against Campbellford

The Port Hope Panthers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Campbellford Rebels on the way to a 4-3 win.

Port Hope made the score 4-2 on a goal by Kyle Sullivan at 5:02 in the third period, and Campbellford got as close as 4-3 when Jon Samis scored 6:58 into the third period.

The Panthers' penalty kill excelled, as Port Hope gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

The Panthers stifled the Rebels' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Port Hope kept Campbellford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Amos Lloyd made 30 saves on 34 shots. The Panthers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Port Hope also got points from Logan Arsenault, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jacob Spicer also scored for Port Hope. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Brad Heykoop, Ryan Wilkinson, Chris Jones, and Brandon Yorke, who contributed one a piece.

The Rebels put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Port Hope to score on any of its seven power plays. Campbellford's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Rebels finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Campbellford was led by Levi George, who grabbed one goal and one assist. George scored 16:06 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Port Hope. Hunter Fargey picked up the assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Tyler McKown as well. More assists for Campbellford came via Steven Clarke, Ryan Crowley, and Seamus McDougall, who each chipped in one.

Christoff Lyon made 22 saves for the Panthers on 25 shots.
