Detroit Red Wings survives Winnipeg Junior Jets comeback, wins 3-2

Detroit Red Wings survived a determined comeback attempt by Winnipeg Junior Jets on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Tanner Dickinson put Detroit Red Wings up 3-1 in the third period, but Winnipeg Junior Jets pulled to within one on Ty Thorpe's tally 7:01 into the third period.

Detroit Red Wings was led by Dickinson, who registered one goal. Dickinson scored on the power play 4:00 into the third period to make the score Detroit Red Wings. A tripping penalty on Lucas Humble had put Detroit Red Wings on the power play. Tiernan Shoudy provided the assist.

Winnipeg Junior Jets' defense shut down Detroit Red Wings' forwards for much of the game, and Detroit Red Wings got off only 11 shots during the contest.

Detroit Red Wings also got points from Owen Michaels, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Ben Schoen, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Detroit Red Wings came via DJ Dixon and Mark Estapa, who each chipped in one.

Winnipeg Junior Jets was helped by Seth Jarvis, who had one goal. Jarvis scored 56 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Detroit Red Wings. Cole Jordan assisted on the tally. In addition, Winnipeg Junior Jets received assists from Brady Whitely, who had one.

Xavier Medina recorded 28 saves for Detroit Red Wings. Detroit Red Wings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Dante Giannuzzi made eight saves for Winnipeg Junior Jets on 11 shots. Winnipeg Junior Jets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
