Nepean squeaks by Cumberland, 4-2

The game between the Nepean Raiders and the Cumberland Grads was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Nepean emerged with a 4-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Phil Nasca at 2:42 of the third period.

The Raiders' penalty kill excelled, as Nepean gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Raiders were sparked by Nasca, who registered one goal and one assist.

Nepean also got points from Steven Johnston, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nepean also got a goal from Brandon Belding as well. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Brandon Watt, who had two and Luke Scott, Tanner Williams, and Dalen Hedges, who contributed one a piece.

Cumberland kept Nepean's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Mulder made 46 saves on 48 shots.

The Grads were helped by Riley Hennigar, who racked up one goal. Hennigar scored 19:37 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Matt Allan picked up the assist. Andrew DeBrincat also scored for Cumberland. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Colin Kruse, Matthew Morin, and Mark Golberg, who each chipped in one.

The Raiders totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Nepean ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Belding was ejected from the game. Cumberland's Reilly Turner stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Grads ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For Cumberland, Hennigar was ejected from the game.
