Cumberland beats Brockville 3-2 after comeback scareNavan Memorial Centre Sun, Oct 21, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brockville Braves tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Cumberland Grads held on for a 3-2 victory. A goal by Colin Kruse put Cumberland up 3-1 in the third period, but Brockville pulled to within one on Jonathan Power's tally 10:11 into the third period. The Grads' penalty kill excelled, as Cumberland gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. The Grads forced Braves' netminders to work between the pipes, firing 44 shots and forcing 41 saves. Matthew Jenkins made 24 stops and Cody Karpinski made 17. Cumberland also got a goal from Justin Pelock as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Matt Allan, Philippe Paquette, Eric Clitsome, Matthew Morin, David Higgs, and Zach Rodier, who each chipped in one. The Braves' offense rang up 40 shots on Cumberland's net. Ben Blasko also scored for Brockville. More assists for Brockville came via Zach Todd, David Ferreira, Nathan Todd, and Griffen Molino, who contributed one a piece. Reilly Turner rejected 38 shots on goal for the Grads. Cumberland incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Brockville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
