Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Hawkesbury Hawks defeated the Nepean Raiders in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.Hawkesbury overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Hawks was down 1-0 after a power play goal by Nepean's Brent Norris at 12:16 in the first period. Hawkesbury tied things up at 1-1 on a power play goal by Shane Topf at 17:44 in the second period. The Hawks' Carmine Guerriero was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 42 saves and let only one puck past him. Guerriero managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.47 prior to the game. The Raiders were unable to stop Hawkesbury from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were William Plamondon and Brandon Bussey, who contributed one a piece. Nepean could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Raiders average 3.9 goals per game. Nepean's offense rang up 45 shots on Hawkesbury's net. In addition, Nepean received assists from Dalen Hedges and Kenneth Neil, who each chipped in one. The Hawks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Matt Zawadzki recorded 42 saves for the Raiders. Nepean incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
