Carleton Place blows out Gloucester, 6-0

The Carleton Place Canadians had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-0 win over the Gloucester Rangers.

Carleton Place got the win thanks to a great game by Luke Martin, who had two goals and one assist. Martin scored the first of his two goals at 1:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Luke Edwards provided the assist. Martin's next tally made the score 6-0 Carleton Place with 7:32 left in the third period. Kevin Dufour assisted on the tally.

Gloucester's power play was ineffective against the Canadians' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Carleton Place put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Rangers to score on any of their eight power plays. The Canadians featured an improved defense during the game. Carleton Place averages 3.0 goals allowed per game. The Canadians' offense rang up 33 shots on Gloucester's net. Carleton Place outdid its season average for goals scored. The Canadians average 3.7 goals per game.

Carleton Place also got points from Dufour, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Luke Kasteel, who also registered one goal and one assist, Edwards, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Evan Peterson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Elias Ghantous, who had two and Brandon Seatter, Michael Maciag, and Kelly Summers, who contributed one a piece.

The Rangers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Gloucester averages 2.8 goals per game.

Matt Couvrette recorded 20 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For Carleton Place, Kasteel was ejected from the game. Gianmarco De Meis made 27 saves for the Rangers on 33 shots. Gloucester incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
