Winnipeg Junior Jets erases deficit to stun Montreal Ice Storm, 4-3

Winnipeg Junior Jets climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat Montreal Ice Storm, 4-3.

Winnipeg Junior Jets never led in the game until netting the game winner. Winnipeg Junior Jets trailed 3-0 after a goal by Montreal Ice Storm's Brandon Sacchetti at 6:24 in the second period. Winnipeg Junior Jets tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Seth Jarvis at 5:11 in the third period. Winnipeg Junior Jets netted the game winner at 12:00 in the third period on a goal by Jarvis.

Winnipeg Junior Jets got the win behind a great game by Ty Smilanic, who had two goals and one assist. Smilanic scored the first of his two goals short handed at 10:29 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Montreal Ice Storm. Winnipeg Junior Jets was on a disadvantage when Trent Sambrook went off the ice for cross checking. Smilanic's next tally short handed made the score 3-2 Montreal Ice Storm with 19:34 left in the third period. Ty Thorpe picked up the assist.

Winnipeg Junior Jets also got a goal from Logan Danis as well. More assists for Winnipeg Junior Jets came via Nolan Ritchie, who had one and Brady Whitely, who had two.

Montreal Ice Storm's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Montreal Ice Storm finished with 16 penalty minutes.

Montreal Ice Storm was helped by Liam Verdoni, who finished with one goal. Verdoni scored on the power play 1:57 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Montreal Ice Storm. Montreal Ice Storm earned a power play opportunity when Anthony Kehrer was put in the box for hooking. Jeremie Poirier assisted on the tally. Montreal Ice Storm additionally got points from Matt Choupani, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Montreal Ice Storm received assists from Alexis Giguere, who had one.

Dante Giannuzzi recorded 15 saves for Winnipeg Junior Jets. Winnipeg Junior Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Franky Lapenna made 17 saves for Montreal Ice Storm on 21 shots. Montreal Ice Storm registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
