BC Junior Canucks outlasts Montreal Ice Storm, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, BC Junior Canucks escaped with a 4-2 victory over Montreal Ice Storm.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Cole Shepard's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Tyler Horstmann had two goals and one assist to lead BC Junior Canucks. Horstmann scored the first of his two goals at 8:05 into the second period to make the score 3-1 BC Junior Canucks. Walker Erickson provided the assist. Horstmann's next tally made the score 4-2 BC Junior Canucks with 9:19 left in the third period. BC Junior Canucks was on a disadvantage when Robbie Fromm-Delorne went off the ice for body checking. Ben King assisted on the tally.

BC Junior Canucks stifled Montreal Ice Storm's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

BC Junior Canucks also got points from Erickson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for BC Junior Canucks came via Ryan Helliwell and Chase Bradley, who each chipped in one.

Montreal Ice Storm managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Montreal Ice Storm wound up below its season average of 6.0 penalty minutes per game.

Montreal Ice Storm was led by Liam Verdoni, who had one goal and one assist. Verdoni scored 11:37 into the second period to make the score 3-2 BC Junior Canucks. Miguel Tourigny provided the assist. Montreal Ice Storm also got a goal from Devon de Vries as well. In addition, Montreal Ice Storm received assists from Hendrix Lapierre, who had one.

Cam Connolly made 22 saves for BC Junior Canucks on 24 shots. BC Junior Canucks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mika Gonthier-Bernard rejected 16 shots on goal for Montreal Ice Storm. Montreal Ice Storm registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
