Antoni, Springfield blank St. Louis, 1-0

Hardees Iceplex    Sat, Apr 21, 2012

Gabe Antoni made 34 saves to complete the shutout and led the Springfield Jr. Blues to a 1-0 win against the St. Louis Bandits.

With the win, Springfield evened the series at 1-1 in the best of five showdown.

Garrett Williams' game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 2:59 in the second period. Cody Dixon assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Blues were led by Williams, who grabbed one goal.

Springfield put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Louis to score on any of its four power plays. The Jr. Blues relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Josef Pontasch, Radim Matus and Mike Williams took eight of the team's 15 shots.

The Bandits forced Springfield goalie Antoni to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

St. Louis was led by Rance Hughes, who took four shots.

The Jr. Blues incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Spencer Viele recorded 14 saves for the Bandits. St. Louis incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
