Wenatchee falls to Fairbanks in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs' Max Birkinbine scored 5:20 into overtime to beat the Wenatchee Wild, 2-1 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, Wenatchee faces elimination next time out.

Fairbanks was led by Birkinbine, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

The Wild were unable to stop the Ice Dogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Fairbanks eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Ice Dogs did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Fairbanks' offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 16 shots on net during the game.

Fairbanks additionally got points from Pavlo Padakin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Fairbanks came via Pete Spratte and Sean ORourke, who each chipped in one.

Wenatchee excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Wild were led by Jerad Tafoya, who scored the team's only goal. Tafoya scored 16:43 into the second period to make the score 1-1.

Alex Fons recorded 18 saves for the Ice Dogs. Wenatchee's Greg Lewis stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Wild totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and had no power play opportunities.
