Courtney leads Missouri over Fort Wayne, 6-3

The Missouri Mavericks' Andrew Courtney had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-3 win over the Fort Wayne Komets.

Courtney's tallies came at 11:52 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Missouri and 46 seconds into the third to make the score 4-1 Missouri.

The win gave Missouri a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Missouri also got points from Brandon Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Ed McGrane, who also registered one goal and two assists. Missouri also got a goal from Patrick Schafer as well. In addition, Missouri received assists from Cole Ruwe, Dave Pszenyczny, Ryan Jardine, Charlie Effinger, Kris Hogg, and Sebastien Thinel, who each chipped in one.

Fort Wayne kept the Mavericks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Effinger made 39 saves on 42 shots.

The Komets were helped by Chris Auger, who grabbed one goal. Auger scored 4:58 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Missouri. Colin Chaulk provided the assist. Fort Wayne additionally got points from Bobby Chaumont, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jamie Lovell also scored for Fort Wayne. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Wayne were Frankie DeAngelis, who had two and Leo Thomas and Jamie Milam, who contributed one a piece.

Missouri incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gerry Festa took the loss and made 13 saves before being replaced by Nick Boucher who made five saves. Fort Wayne incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Komets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Auger was ejected from the game.
