Columbus rolls over Huntsville, 6-1

The Columbus Cottonmouths were firing on all cylinders against the Huntsville Havoc, and when the final buzzer sounded Cottonmouths emerged with a 6-1 win.

Columbus was led by John Sullivan, who had one goal and one assist. Sullivan scored 12:52 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Columbus. Jordan Braid provided the assist.

The Cottonmouths' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Huntsville power plays. With 33 shots on target during the contest, Columbus exceeded the 29.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Columbus additionally got points from Greg Beller, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Sam Bowles, who also registered one goal and one assist. Orrin Hergott also scored for Columbus. More assists for Columbus came via Andrew Krelove and Peter MacDougall, who each chipped in one and Levi Lind and Derek Pallardy, who contributed two a piece.

Huntsville was below its usual level of shot production, taking 21 shots compared to the 28.8 the Havoc average.

Huntsville was led by Mike MacDonald, who scored the team's only goal. MacDonald scored 3:24 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Columbus. Ray Ortiz picked up the assist.

Ian Vigier rejected 20 shots on goal for the Cottonmouths. Columbus incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mark Sibbald made 27 saves for the Havoc on 33 shots. Huntsville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
