Pensacola rolls over Knoxville, 4-1

The Pensacola Ice Flyers were firing on all cylinders against the Knoxville Ice Bears, and when the final buzzer sounded Ice Flyers emerged with a 4-1 win.

Knoxville was stymied by Pensacola netminder Steve Christie, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Even though Christie played well, his goals against average suffered, as his one goal against exceeded his season average of 0.67.

The Ice Flyers were led by Ryan Hohl, who had one goal and one assist. Hohl scored 3:59 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pensacola. Adam Kuhn picked up the assist.

Pensacola racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Ice Flyers had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. Pensacola stifled the Ice Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice Flyers kept Knoxville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Rank made 30 saves on 34 shots.

Pensacola also got points from Jordan Chong, who also registered one goal and one assist. Pensacola also got a goal from Matthew Robertson as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Donnie Harris, Steve Bergin, and Tyler Soehner, who contributed one a piece.

The Ice Bears were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 10.0 minutes per game Knoxville had been spending in the box. The Ice Bears did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Knoxville averages 3.5 goals per game. Pensacola was unable to stop the Ice Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Knoxville eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The Ice Bears were led by Tyler Fletcher, who scored the team's only goal. Fletcher scored 17:48 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Pensacola. Mark Van Vliet provided the assist.

The Ice Flyers registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Knoxville registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
