Wenatchee falls to Alaska in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Alaska Avalanche's Jordan Watt scored 19:41 into overtime to beat the Wenatchee Wild, 3-2 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 2-1 in the best of five series, Wenatchee faces elimination next time out.

Alaska was led by Watt, who finished with one goal.

The Avalanche put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Wild to score on any of their five power plays. Alaska forced Wenatchee goalie Robert Nichols to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Evan Hesse also scored for Alaska. Other players who recorded assists for Alaska were Mitch Kontny, Brandon Brossoit, Justin Lutsch, Gage Christianson, Codey Hansen, and Jeff Bergh, who contributed one a piece.

The Wild's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Alaska power plays. Wenatchee kept the Avalanche's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bodhi Engum made 43 saves on 45 shots.

The Wild were helped by Trace Redmond, who grabbed one goal. Redmond scored 10:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wenatchee. Blake Roubos picked up the assist. Wenatchee also got points from Roubos, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Ben Carey, who had two.

Alaska incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Nichols rejected 38 shots on goal for Wenatchee. The Wild incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
