Swift nets hat trick, leads Brantford to 5-3 win over Stratford

The Stratford Cullitons could not stop the Brantford Golden Eagles' Jeff Swift, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-3 win.

Swift's first goal came 7:43 into the second period. He then added goals at 16:14 into the second and at 12:15 into the third.

The win gave Brantford a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Golden Eagles stifled Stratford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Brantford additionally got points from Mitch Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Nate Mitton also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from Tyler Norrie, Andrew Wilson, and Dillan Walker, who contributed one a piece.

Brantford was unable to stop the Cullitons from sending pucks towards the net, and Stratford eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Cullitons were helped by Mike Pleon, who grabbed one goal. Pleon scored 8:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Stratford also got points from Brad McClure, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Stratford also got a goal from Pat Looby as well. More assists for Stratford came via Andrew Barton, who had one.

The Golden Eagles' Bryce O Hagan stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Brantford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jesse Raymond made 25 saves for Stratford on 29 shots. The Cullitons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
