Schultz's big game bests Fort Wayne in 6-3 Rapid City winRushmore Plaza Civic Arena Fri, Mar 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Jesse Schultz had two goals and two assists to lead Rapid City to a 6-3 victory over the Fort Wayne Komets. Schultz's tallies came on the power play at 12:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Rapid City and 4:43 into the third to make the score 3-3.The win gave Rapid City a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Fort Wayne was unable to stop Rapid City from sending pucks towards the net, and Rapid City eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Rapid City also got points from Collin Circelli, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Jake Morissette, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Dave Grimson, who also had one goal and one assist. Scott Wray also scored for Rapid City. More assists for Rapid City came via Shawn Limpright, who had two and Riley Weselowski and Dominic DAmour, who each chipped in one. The Komets were helped by Colin Chaulk, who tallied one goal. Chaulk scored on the power play 36 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-2. Fort Wayne also got a goal from Leo Thomas as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Wayne were Jamie Lovell, Bobby Chaumont, Mike Vaskivuo, and Brett Smith, who contributed one a piece. Tim Boron rejected 22 shots on goal for Rapid City. Rapid City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nick Boucher recorded 27 saves for Fort Wayne. The Komets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
