The Cornwall Colts used a sparkling performance by Lukas Hafner to take down the Hawkesbury Hawks, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Cornwall's 4-0 shutout victory. After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Hawkesbury faces elimination next time out. The Hawks were stymied by the Colts netminder Hafner, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Hafner certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.4 entering the contest. Cornwall made Hawks' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 33 shots and forcing 29 saves. Carmine Guerriero made 29 stops and Michael Comitini made zero. The Colts stifled Hawkesbury's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cornwall was helped by Tyson Spink, who grabbed one goal. Spink scored on the power play 5:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. The Colts earned a power play opportunity when Brett Costello was put in the box for roughing after whistle. Kyle Baun picked up the assist. The score was assisted by Baun and Tylor Spink. Cornwall also had goals scored by Stephen Johnson, who had one and Trent Durocher, who had two. More assists for Cornwall came via Mark Hough, Billy Ulrick, Mark Rath, Kevin Hope, and Brandon Howes, who contributed one a piece. Cornwall incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Hawks incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors. |
