Nepean survives Pembroke comeback, wins 4-2

Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1    Sun, Apr 01, 2012

The Pembroke Lumber Kings tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Nepean Raiders would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

Nepean made the score 4-1 on a goal by Ryan Johnston at 1:04 in the third period, and Pembroke got as close as 4-2 when Geoff Gallagher scored 15:16 into the third period.

The win moved the Raiders to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Nepean was sparked by Tanner Williams, who grabbed one goal. Williams scored short handed 6:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Nepean. The Raiders were on a disadvantage when Ryan MacLean went off the ice for high sticking.

The Lumber Kings were unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Brandon Watt also scored for Nepean. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Dalen Hedges, who had two and Kenneth Neil and Brent Norris, who each chipped in one.

Pembroke put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Nepean to score on any of its four power plays.

Pembroke also got a goal from Jonathan Milley as well. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Zach Loesch, Patrice Wren, and Justin Stevens, who contributed one a piece.

Matt Zawadzki made 25 saves for the Raiders on 27 shots. Nepean incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Francis Dupuis recorded 32 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
