Botten leads Stouffville over Georgetown, 4-0Stouffville Arena Thu, Mar 29, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit were firing on all cylinders against the Georgetown Raiders, and when the final buzzer sounded Spirit emerged with a 4-0 win. Stouffville evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven. The Spirit forced Raiders' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Michael Giugovaz made 19 stops and Steven Racine made eight. Stouffville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Georgetown to score on any of its five power plays. The Spirit were led by Alex Botten, who registered two goals and one assist. Botten scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Stouffville had taken the advantage when the Raiders' Jake Emilio got sent off for roughing. Paul Geiger picked up the assist. Botten's next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 Stouffville with 1:47 left in the third period. Geiger assisted on the tally. Stouffville also got a goal from Chris Porter as well. More assists for Stouffville came via Drake Caggiula, who had two and Michael Robinson and Robert Powers, who contributed one a piece. Jonathan Hall recorded 24 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Georgetown incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
