Georgetown beats Stouffville 2-1 after comeback scareStouffville Arena Sun, Mar 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Georgetown Raiders held on for a 2-1 victory. A goal by Stephen Genua put Georgetown up 2-0 in the third period, but Stouffville pulled to within one on Christian Finch's tally 16:11 into the third period. With the win, the Raiders evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. Georgetown's Michael Giugovaz was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Giugovaz certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.86 entering the contest. The Raiders stifled the Spirit's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Jeremy DeFazio also scored for Georgetown. More assists for Georgetown came via Jake Emilio and Manny Gialedakis, who each chipped in one. Stouffville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Georgetown power plays. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Chris Porter and Drake Caggiula, who contributed one a piece. Georgetown incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jonathan Hall recorded 21 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
