Boston falls to Montreal in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Montreal's Caroline Ouellette scored 45 seconds into overtime to beat Boston, 5-4 (OT).

Montreal overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Montreal trailed 2-0 after a goal by Boston's Gigi Marvin at 16:20 in the first period. Montreal tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Erika Lawler at 19:06 in the third period.

Montreal was led by Ouellette, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Montreal put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Boston to score on any of its three power plays. Montreal's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Montreal gives up 1.3 goal per game. Montreal got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Montreal additionally got points from Sabrina Harbec, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Montreal also got a goal from Catherine Ward as well. In addition, Montreal received assists from Stephanie Denino, who had two and Carly Dupont-Hill, Lisa-Marie Breton-Lebreux, and Emmanuelle Blais, who each chipped in one.

Boston's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Montreal power plays.

Shannon Sisk also scored for Boston. Other players who recorded assists for Boston were Kelli Stack, who had three and Katelyn Kurth and Kacey Bellamy, who contributed one a piece.

Montreal incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Boston incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
