Hagersville penalty kill dominates in 6-3 defeat of Delhi

The Delhi Travellers failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Hagersville Hawks shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-3.

The win moved Hagersville to down 2-0 in the best of seven series.

The Hawks were paced by Aleck Boyd, who had one goal. Boyd scored 9:51 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Hagersville. Eric Drehmer provided the assist.

Hagersville kept Delhi's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Heath made 45 saves on 51 shots.

Hagersville also got points from Nick Halliday, who also registered one goal and one assist, Derek Medeiros, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Mike Gruhl, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Jason Gadoury, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Hagersville also got a goal from Hayden Baird as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Jesse Ross and Dakota Powless, who contributed one a piece.

The Travellers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Delhi was helped by Jake Legein, who had one goal. Legein scored 4:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Nathan Moyaert picked up the assist. Marty MacDonald also scored for Delhi. In addition, Delhi received assists from Mac Scott, who had one.

Jordan Ironside rejected 23 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hagersville incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Hawks, Rob Clause was ejected from the game. The Travellers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
