Flint wins tough contest against Cleveland, 4-3

The Flint Jr. Generals and the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Flint made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Derek Compeau at 15:22 of the third period.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Cleveland faces elimination next time out.

Edward Osowski was all over the ice for the Jr. Generals, as he had two goals in the win. Osowski's tallies came at 13:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Flint and 10:12 into the second to make the score 2-2.

The Jr. Lumberjacks' power play was ineffective against Flint's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Jr. Generals kept Cleveland's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexander Larson made 30 saves on 34 shots.

Flint also got points from Joshua Kestner, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Warren Carter, who had two and Nicholas Goettel, Phillip Ballard, Jake Taylor, William Kocher, and Benjamin Myers, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Lumberjacks were helped by David Fassbender, who grabbed one goal. Fassbender scored 19:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Cameron Dimmitt assisted on the tally. Cleveland additionally got points from Fred West, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Louis Sawchik as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Andrew Mitch, who had one.

Myers recorded 20 saves for Flint. The Jr. Generals totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Cleveland ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
