Whitby outlasts Toronto Lakeshore, 4-2

The game between the Whitby Fury and the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Whitby emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Fury gained the winning advantage on a goal by Sam Gray 17:10 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The win moved Whitby to down 1-0 in the best of seven series.

The Fury were led by Gray, who racked up one goal.

Toronto Lakeshore was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Fury eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Whitby did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering just one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Whitby also got a goal from Connor Hale as well. In addition, Whitby received assists from Matt Davis, who had two and Chris Raguseo, Jack Lewis, Quincy McIvor, Ryan Kirkup, and Taylor Best, who each chipped in one.

The Patriots were helped by Robbie Murden, who finished with one goal. Murden scored 10:40 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Toronto Lakeshore. Doug Bonar picked up the assist. Shane Cavalieri also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Kyle Dutra, Brandon Willett, and Brody Heleno, who contributed one a piece.

Tyler Feaver made 18 saves for the Fury on 20 shots. Whitby registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Joseph Pianta recorded 42 saves for Toronto Lakeshore. The Patriots incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
