BLUEWATER uses early goal to top STONEY CREEK, 3-1

BLUEWATER took the lead against STONEY CREEK in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory.

Leah Buress provided BLUEWATER with the game-winning tally when she scored 11:23 into the the first period. Jessica Wakefield assisted on the tally.

The win by BLUEWATER clinched the best of five series at 1-3.

Rebecca Kohler had two goals to lead BLUEWATER to victory. Kohler found the back of the net 9:13 into the second period to make the score 2-0 BLUEWATER and again while 19:25 into the third to make the score 3-1 BLUEWATER.

BLUEWATER excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. BLUEWATER's offense rang up 32 shots on STONEY CREEK's net.

Other players who recorded assists for BLUEWATER were Meg Hannon and Cayley Mercer, who contributed one a piece.

STONEY CREEK put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BLUEWATER to score on any of its five power plays.

STONEY CREEK was led by Caitlyn Schell, who scored the team's only goal. Schell scored 12:05 into the third period to make the score 2-1 BLUEWATER. Rebecca Johnson picked up the assist.

Brooke Gibson made 18 saves for BLUEWATER on 19 shots. BLUEWATER incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Elaine Chuli rejected 29 shots on goal for STONEY CREEK. STONEY CREEK incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
