Leah Buress had two goals to lead BLUEWATER to a 2-0 victory over STONEY CREEK. Buress scored at 1:51 into the third period to make the score 1-0 BLUEWATER and again while 9:03 into the third to make the score 2-0 BLUEWATER.With the win, BLUEWATER evened the series at 1-1 in the best of five showdown. Brooke Gibson frustrated STONEY CREEK's offense all game, and stopped 30 shots en route to a shutout. Gibson certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 2.44 entering the contest. BLUEWATER pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. BLUEWATER excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. BLUEWATER forced STONEY CREEK goalie Elaine Chuli to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. In addition, BLUEWATER received assists from Jessica Wakefield, Rebecca Kohler, and Cayley Mercer, who contributed one a piece. STONEY CREEK put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BLUEWATER to score on any of its five power plays. Elaine Chuli made 40 saves for STONEY CREEK on 42 shots. STONEY CREEK incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
