Strathroy wins tough contest against Sarnia, 6-4

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Strathroy Rockets escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Brian Brosnan at 14:24 of the second period.

With the win, Strathroy evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

Derek Nap was all over the ice for the Rockets, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Nap scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy. Strathroy had gained a power play chance when Jeff Paulley was whistled for interference. Tyler Duarte provided the assist. Nap's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Strathroy with 10:08 left in the second period. Justin Thomas assisted on the tally.

The Rockets pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 24 penalty minutes.

Strathroy made Sarnia's goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots and forcing 42 saves. Sean Parker made 13 stops and Kyle Washer made 29.

Strathroy additionally got points from Greg Milner, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Strathroy also got a goal from Ryan Field as well. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Mitch McNeill, Davis Brown, and Nick Boyer, who each chipped in one and Jordan McNaughton and Stuart King, who contributed two a piece.

The Legionnaires' offense rang up 38 shots on the Rockets' net.

Sarnia was helped by Anthony Donati, who racked up one goal. Donati scored on the power play 13:27 into the second period to make the score 3-3. The Legionnaires had gotten the advantage when Strathroy's Thomas was sent off for boarding. Jesse Drydak picked up the assist. Sarnia also got points from Michael Sollazzo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Daniel Nikandrov, who also had one goal and one assist. Brent Sauve also scored for Sarnia. More assists for Sarnia came via Matt Cimetta and Derek D`Andrea, who each chipped in one.

Dalen Kuchmey rejected 34 shots on goal for the Rockets. Strathroy registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Sarnia incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
