Sarnia survives Strathroy comeback, wins 4-2

The Sarnia Legionnaires survived a determined comeback attempt by the Strathroy Rockets on the way to a 4-2 win.

A goal by Jason Teschke put Sarnia up 4-1 in the second period, but Strathroy pulled to within two on Tyler Duarte's tally 23 seconds into the third period.

The win by the Legionnaires broke a deadlock and gave Sarnia a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

The Legionnaires pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 34 penalty minutes.

Sarnia stifled the Rockets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Strathroy was unable to stop the Legionnaires from sending pucks towards the net, and Sarnia eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Legionnaires were helped by Michael Sollazzo, who had one goal. Sollazzo scored short handed 12:54 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Sarnia. A head contact call on Steve Farlow put Sarnia on the penalty kill. Mike Dipaolo picked up the assist. Sarnia also got a goal from Tyler Cicchini as well. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Jesse Drydak, who had two and Shawn Waldie, Evan Dixon, Tyler Prong, and Anthony Donati, who each chipped in one.

The Rockets was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 11 chances with a man advantage.

In addition, Strathroy received assists from Ryan Field and Nick Boyer, who contributed one a piece.

Kyle Washer recorded 25 saves for the Legionnaires. Sarnia registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Strathroy's Dalen Kuchmey stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Rockets incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
