Pearce's hat trick boosts Cambridge over Brantford, 4-2Galt Arena Gardens Tue, Mar 20, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Brennon Pearce lifted the Cambridge Winter Hawks to a 4-2 victory with a hat trick against the Brantford Golden Eagles. Pearce notched his first tally 25 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 9:23 into the third and at 18:51 into the third.With the win, Cambridge evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. The Winter Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes. Cambridge also got a goal from Brandon Zimmerman as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cambridge were Trevor Hache, who had two, Michael Christou, who had three, and Marselis Subban, Christian Barnard, and Ryan Clarke, who each chipped in one. Brantford forced Cambridge goalie Brendan Gorecki to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Golden Eagles were led by Brandon Montour, who tallied one goal and one assist. Montour scored on the power play 5:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. Dave Lazurus assisted on the tally. Tyler Norrie also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via Matt Quilty, who had one. Brendan Gorecki made 38 saves for the Winter Hawks on 40 shots. Cambridge registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Bryce O Hagan recorded 22 saves for Brantford. The Golden Eagles incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
