London rips St. Marys, 7-3

The London Nationals had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the St. Marys Lincolns.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, St. Marys faces elimination next time out.

Aaron Dartch was all over the ice for London, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Dartch scored on the power play 17:48 into the second period to make the score 4-2 London. The Nationals earned a power play opportunity when Blake Thompson was put in the box for holding. Daniel Cameron assisted on the tally.

London made the Lincolns' goaltenders to work all game long, racking up 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Craig Wood made 20 stops and Devin Golets made nine.

London also got points from Noah Schwartz, who also registered one goal and three assists and Pieter Schinkelshoek, who also tallied one goal and one assist. London also had goals scored by Billy Eansor, who had one and Tyler Bryden, who had three. Other players who recorded assists for London were Paul Hopkins, who had two and Jonathon Sims, Spencer Watson, and Steven Taylor, who each chipped in one.

St. Marys was helped by Mike Mandarelli, who racked up one goal. Mandarelli scored 11:17 into the second period to make the score 3-2 London. Brendon Merritt picked up the assist. St. Marys additionally got points from Calvin Penney, who also had one goal and one assist and Sean Consitt, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Brady Wiffen, who had two.

The Nationals' Taylor Edwards stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. London incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Lincolns totaled 27 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. For St. Marys, Jordan Leyser was ejected from the game.
