EHC Dortmund beats Selber Wölfe 6-5 after comeback scareNetzsch-Arena Sun, Mar 18, 2012 EHC Dortmund survived a determined comeback attempt by Selber Wölfe on the way to a 6-5 win. EHC Dortmund took a 6-4 lead during the third period, only to have Selber Wölfe storm back on a Jared Mudryk goal 19:22 into the third period to pull to one goal down. After the loss made the series score 0-2 in the best of five series, Selber Wölfe faces elimination next time out. EHC Dortmund was paced on offense by Philipp Michl and Branislav Pohanka, who combined for five points. Michl finished with two goals and Pohanka also added one goal and two assists. EHC Dortmund put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Selber Wölfe to score on any of its four power plays. EHC Dortmund also got points from Michael Schmerda, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Ryan Martens also scored for EHC Dortmund. In addition, EHC Dortmund received assists from Benedikt Kastner, who had two, Nils Liesegang, who had three, and Stephan Kreuzmann, Manuel Neumann, and Sebastian Eickmann, who contributed one a piece. Penalties took their toll on Selber Wölfe, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals. Selber Wölfe additionally got points from Kyle Piwowarczyk, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Herbert Geisberger, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Selber Wölfe also got a goal from Ricco Warkus as well. Other players who recorded assists for Selber Wölfe were Christopher Schadewaldt, who had three and Daniel Heilman and Fabian Bauer, who each chipped in one. EHC Dortmund incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Selber Wölfe incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
