Pembroke squeaks by Brockville, 3-2

The Pembroke Lumber Kings and the Brockville Braves were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Pembroke made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

The Lumber Kings gained the winning advantage on a goal by Brendan Mcguire 19:27 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Brockville faces elimination next time out.

Pembroke's penalty kill excelled, as the Lumber Kings gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

In a losing effort, the Braves were sparked by Matt Chartrain, who racked up two goals. Chartrain scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brockville earned a power play opportunity when Trevor Packard was put in the box for slashing. Kevin Kirisits provided the assist. Chartrain's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 4:38 left in the second period. Brandon Anselmini assisted on the tally.

Pembroke had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

Pembroke also got points from Brandon Gagne, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Justin Pelock also scored for Pembroke. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Chris King, Nathan Siydock, Jonathan Milley, and Justin Stevens, who contributed one a piece.

In addition, Brockville received assists from Ben Blasko, who had one.

Francis Dupuis rejected 26 shots on goal for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Lumber Kings, Tom Hilbrich was ejected from the game. William Betts recorded 27 saves for the Braves. Brockville ended with 29 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and one major. Team's David Roy and Kirisits were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
