The Pembroke Lumber Kings gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Brockville Braves. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jonathan Milley's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The win gave Pembroke a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Lumber Kings was paced on offense by Milley and Brandon Gagne, who combined for four points. Milley tallied two goals and Gagne also added one goal and one assist. Chris King also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Tom Hilbrich, who had two and Trevor Packard, Ben Dalpe, Patrice Wren, and Liam Biard, who each chipped in one. Brockville was led by Hayden Hulton, who tallied two goals. Hulton scored the first of his two goals at 9:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Sebastien Gingras picked up the assist. Hulton's next tally made the score 3-2 Pembroke with 5:33 left in the third period. Mike Skakum assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Kevin Kirisits, who had one. Pembroke's Francis Dupuis stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Lumber Kings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Andrew Pikul rejected 26 shots on goal for the Braves. Brockville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. |
