Billings uses early goal to top Helena, 2-1

Billings took the lead against Helena in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-1 victory.

Jarret Stark provided Billings with the game-winning tally when he scored 14:37 into the the first period. Sawyer Jacobson assisted on the tally.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Helena faces elimination next time out.

Billings' Nic Wackerly was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 41 saves and let only one puck past him. Wackerly managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.26 prior to the game.

Billings pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Billings was helped by Billy Mata, who racked up one goal. Mata scored 19:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Billings. Stark provided the assist. More assists for Billings came via Colby Spoonemore, who had one.

Helena's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Billings power plays. Helena's offense rang up 42 shots on Billings' net.

Helena was led by Ben Henne, who scored the team's only goal. Henne scored on the power play 16:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Billings. Helena had gained a power play chance when Joey Ullmann was whistled for interference. Balasz Goz assisted on the tally.

Trey Flesch recorded 23 saves for Helena. Helena incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
