Toronto Lakeshore beats St. Michaels 2-1 after comeback scare

The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots survived a determined comeback attempt by the St. Michaels Buzzers on the way to a 2-1 win.

A goal by Brandon Willett put Toronto Lakeshore up 2-0 in the third period, but St. Michaels pulled to within one on Tommy Sumi's tally 11:50 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 1-3 in the best of seven series, the Buzzers face elimination next time out.

St. Michaels was stymied by the Patriots netminder Joseph Pianta, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. The solid play of Pianta will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.92.

Toronto Lakeshore did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with just one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Robbie Murden also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Tyler Enns, Wes Deme, Doug Bonar, and Kyle Dutra, who each chipped in one.

The Buzzers did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

In addition, St. Michaels received assists from David Italiano and Mark Cooper, who contributed one a piece.

The Patriots registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. St. Michaels' Adrian Ignagni stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Buzzers registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
