Ayr falls to Hagersville in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Hagersville Hawks pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Ayr Centennials on a clutch goal by Hayden Baird.

The win by Hagersville clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

The Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Hagersville made Centennials' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Lee Doherty made 14 stops and Jordan Witt made 23. The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Ayr power plays.

Hagersville was led by Jesse Ross, who tallied three goals. Brock McEachern also scored for Hagersville. More assists for Hagersville came via Derek Medeiros, who had two and Deacan Krause, Eric Drehmer, Nick Halliday, Dakota Powless, Evan Saunders, and Aleck Boyd, who contributed one a piece.

Ayr forced the Hawks goalie Jordan Ironside to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

The Centennials were helped by Adam Brubacher, who finished with one goal and one assist. Brubacher scored 7:08 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Alex Richard picked up the assist. Ayr also got points from Philip Durnford, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ayr also got a goal from Taylor Doering as well. In addition, Ayr received assists from Scott Sippel, Logan Beechey, Andrew Tapsell, and Andrew Richard, who each chipped in one.

Hagersville's Ironside stopped 38 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Hawks registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Hagersville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Powless was ejected from the game. Ayr incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
