Whitby wins tough contest against Kingston, 3-2

The game between the Whitby Fury and the Kingston Voyageurs was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Whitby emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jack Lewis secured the win for the Fury with a goal in the third period.

The win by Whitby clinched the best of seven series at 0-4.

The Fury got the win on the strength of a great game by Peter Neal, who had two goals and one assist. Neal scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 14:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Whitby. Whitby earned a power play opportunity when Michael Schug was put in the box for hooking. Lewis picked up the assist. Neal's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Whitby with 15:26 left in the second period. Matt Davis provided the assist.

The Fury's offense rang up 40 shots on Kingston's net.

Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Devin Shore, who had two.

The Voyageurs were helped by Ludlow Harris, who racked up one goal. Harris scored on the power play 49 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matt Eddy assisted on the tally. Kingston also got points from Steve McParland, who also tallied one goal and one assist.

Tyler Feaver rejected 21 shots on goal for Whitby. The Fury incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Charlie Finn made 37 saves for Kingston on 40 shots. The Voyageurs totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Kingston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Aidan Wright was ejected from the game.
