Flint downs Pittsburgh in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Flint Jr. Generals pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins on a clutch goal by Richard Jansson.

The win by Flint clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

The Jr. Generals were led by goalie Benjamin Myers, who finished with 39 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Myers will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.81 entering the contest.

Pittsburgh's power play was ineffective against Flint's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Jr. Generals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Penguins to score on any of their eight power plays. Pittsburgh was unable to stop Flint from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Generals eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

Warren Carter also scored for Flint. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Joshua Kestner, Cody Damon, Lucas McDiarimid, and Andrew Lay, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Penguins forced Flint goalie Myers to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Pittsburgh was led by Reed Gregory, who scored the team's only goal. Gregory scored 13:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pittsburgh. James Muncie picked up the assist.

The Jr. Generals incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Tyler Stepke recorded 45 saves for the Jr. Penguins. Pittsburgh incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
