Metro blows out Cleveland, 5-2

The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks had trouble finding ways to stop the Metro Jets, which beat Jr. Lumberjacks, 5-2.

Metro evened the best of three series at 1-1 and forced a deciding game three.

The Jets got the win behind a great game by Chris Hellebuyck, who had one goal and two assists. Hellebuyck scored on the power play 15:11 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Metro. Metro had taken the advantage when Cleveland's Brad Beran got sent off for interference. Steve Klisz assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Lumberjacks' power play was ineffective against the Jets' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Metro stifled Cleveland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jets forced the Jr. Lumberjacks goalie Alexander Larson to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Metro additionally got points from Mike MacKinnon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Metro also got a goal from Tommy Kilgore as well. More assists for Metro came via Cameron Bazin, Will Shier, Trevor Bardallis, Doug Andrews, and Justin Shureb, who each chipped in one.

Cleveland kept Metro's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dillon Kelley made 30 saves on 32 shots.

The Jr. Lumberjacks were helped by David Fassbender, who racked up one goal. Fassbender scored 15:52 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Metro. Fred West picked up the assist. Pat Smith also scored for Cleveland. Other players who recorded assists for Cleveland were Andrew Mitch and Kyle Fink, who contributed one a piece.

The Jets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Larson rejected 30 shots on goal for Cleveland. The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
