Brianna Veerman(A) scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and AURORA held off the challenges of ETOBICOKE in a tough 2-1 win. A goal 3:40 into the the first period by Veerman(A) proved to be the game winner, and powered AURORA to the victory Caroline DeBruin(A) picked up the assist.The win by AURORA clinched the best of five series at 1-3. AURORA was sparked by Jackie Normandeau (PU), who tallied one goal. Normandeau (PU) scored 6:15 into the second period to make the score 2-0 AURORA. Hailey Noronha provided the assist. AURORA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow ETOBICOKE to score on any of its three power plays. AURORA forced ETOBICOKE goalie Keri Martin to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. ETOBICOKE's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four AURORA power plays. ETOBICOKE was led by Nicole Atkinson, who scored the team's only goal. Atkinson scored 7:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 AURORA. Emma Dahlgren (C) picked up the assist. Claire Shaw rejected 15 shots on goal for AURORA. AURORA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. ETOBICOKE's Martin stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that she faced. ETOBICOKE incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
