BLUEWATER outlasts DURHAM WEST, 1-0

BLUEWATER beat DURHAM WEST 1-0 in a game that featured tenacious defense, solid goalkeeping and a winning score from Taylor Philip.

Philip's tally was assisted by Cayley Mercer and Rebecca Kohler.

After the loss made the series score 0-2 in the best of five series, DURHAM WEST faces elimination next time out.

BLUEWATER pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

BLUEWATER was paced by Philip, who had one goal. Philip scored 11:13 into the second period to make the score 1-0 BLUEWATER. Mercer provided the assist.

BLUEWATER excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. BLUEWATER's offense rang up 31 shots on DURHAM WEST's net.

DURHAM WEST stifled BLUEWATER's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

BLUEWATER's Kayla Black stopped 21 shots out of the 21 that she faced. BLUEWATER registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Jackie Rochefort made 30 saves for DURHAM WEST on 31 shots. DURHAM WEST incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
