WATERLOO rides Robinson to victory over MISSISSAUGA, 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Natalie Robinson helped WATERLOO defeat MISSISSAUGA, 3-1.

The win gave WATERLOO a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

WATERLOO pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

WATERLOO was sparked by Laken Smith, who grabbed one goal. Smith scored 8:31 into the third period to make the score 2-1 WATERLOO. Jessica Paton assisted on the tally.

WATERLOO put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow MISSISSAUGA to score on any of its six power plays.

WATERLOO also got points from Kelsey MacSorley, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Emma Leger also scored for WATERLOO. Other players who recorded assists for WATERLOO were Emma Woods, who had one.

MISSISSAUGA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five WATERLOO power plays. MISSISSAUGA forced WATERLOO goalie Robinson to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

MISSISSAUGA was led by Kelly Mariani, who scored the team's only goal. Mariani scored 13:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 MISSISSAUGA. Mikaela Lowater provided the assist.

Natalie Robinson made 32 saves for WATERLOO on 33 shots. MISSISSAUGA's Alysia DaSilva stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that she faced. MISSISSAUGA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
