Huge game by Stacey boosts TORONTO over SOUTHWEST, 7-2

TORONTO had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over SOUTHWEST.

The win gave TORONTO a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

Laura Stacey was all over the ice for TORONTO, as she tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Stacey scored the first of her two goals at 11:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 TORONTO. Emma Greco picked up the assist. Stacey's next tally made the score 4-0 TORONTO with 9:00 left in the second period. Morgan Kelly provided the assist.

TORONTO's penalty kill excelled, as TORONTO gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

TORONTO stifled SOUTHWEST's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. TORONTO kept SOUTHWEST's goalie busy throughout the game, and Katrina Heyink made 24 saves on 31 shots. TORONTO was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes.

TORONTO also had goals scored by Lindsey Allen, who had two and Jaimie McDonell, Kryshanda Green, and Ailish Forfar, who scored one goal each. In addition, TORONTO received assists from Erin Ambrose, who had two and Vanessa Spataro, Audrey Potts, Kate Martini, Devon Moir, and Brooke Webster, who each chipped in one.

SOUTHWEST did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 13 shots on net to force 11 saves. SOUTHWEST struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 22 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays.

Taylor Hough made 11 saves for TORONTO on 13 shots.
