The Stayner Siskins tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Alliston Hornets would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. Alliston took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Stayner storm back on a Riley Brooks goal 14:19 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The win gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Alliston got the win on the strength of a great game by Matt Thompson, who had two goals and one assist. Thompson scored the first of his two goals at 5:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Alliston. Cam Nicoll picked up the assist. Thompson's next tally made the score Alliston with 12:09 left in the third period. The Hornets had taken the advantage when the Siskins' Bradley Latour got sent off for roughing after whistle. Tanner Dockerty provided the assist. Alliston kept Stayner's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Lee made 38 saves on 42 shots. The Hornets' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Alliston finished with 24 penalty minutes. The Hornets were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances. Andre Lessard also scored for Alliston. In addition, Alliston received assists from Kyle Montpetit, Mike Campeau, Bobby Sloan, and Tyler Crawford, who each chipped in one. Alliston was unable to stop the Siskins from sending pucks towards the net, and Stayner eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Siskins were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 44 penalty minutes. Stayner was helped by Mike Mullay, who racked up one goal. Mullay scored nine seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Alliston. Cody Brown picked up the assist. More assists for Stayner came via Evan MacDonald and Daniel Latour, who contributed one a piece. Robbie Alsop rejected 32 shots on goal for the Hornets. The Siskins registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
