Lambeth holds on for 8-6 win against Exeter

The Exeter Hawks tried their best to erase a six-goal deficit, but the Lambeth Lancers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 8-6.

Lambeth made the score 8-2 on a goal by Nick North at 19:20 in the second period, and Exeter got as close as 8-6 when Dylan Bedard scored 15:43 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Hawks face elimination next time out.

Mitch Furlonger was all over the ice for the Lancers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Furlonger scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:01 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Lambeth. Lambeth had gained a power play chance when Mitch Vandergunst was whistled for roughing after whistle. Alec Cooke picked up the assist. Furlonger's next tally on the power play made the score 5-0 Lambeth with 15:45 left in the second period. Dale Morningstar assisted on the tally.

The Lancers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Exeter was unable to stop Lambeth from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lancers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Lambeth also got points from Nick West, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Andrew Burness also scored for Lambeth. More assists for Lambeth came via Kale Corbeth, who had two and Kyle Huston, Tyson Corkum, Anthony Sachetti, and Ryan Pennington, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks' offense rang up 63 shots on Lambeth's net.

Exeter additionally got points from Kalvin Thornton, who also had two goals and two assists and Josh Brideau, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Exeter also got a goal from Alex Garon as well. In addition, Exeter received assists from Matthew Ross, Tim Burtch, Mitch Wild, Matthew McLellan, and John Kingma, who contributed one a piece.

JP Trudell rejected 57 shots on goal for the Lancers. Lambeth incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Lancers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Greg Douglas was ejected from the game. Exeter's Jake Partridge stopped 24 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
