Mt.Brydges survives Thamesford comeback, wins 5-3

The Thamesford Trojans almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end.

Mt.Brydges led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Bulldogs' Mike Neely's scored at 6:24 in the second period to put Mt.Brydges up 4-1.

The win by the Bulldogs broke a deadlock and gave Mt.Brydges a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

The Bulldogs kept Thamesford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Chris Walker made 29 saves on 34 shots. Mt.Brydges' penalty kill unit could not stop the Trojans' power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.

The Bulldogs were helped by Spencer Wilson, who tallied one goal. Wilson scored 8:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mt.Brydges. Grant Johns picked up the assist. Nate Cross also scored for Mt.Brydges. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Connor Dunn, David Wade, and Adam Fletcher, who contributed one a piece.

Thamesford stifled Mt.Brydges' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Trojans forced the Bulldogs goalie Eric Steinman to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Thamesford was helped by Stavros Mandrapilias, who racked up one goal. Mandrapilias scored on the power play 13:22 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Mt.Brydges. The Trojans earned a power play opportunity when Sam MacGee was put in the box for holding. Ethan Doan assisted on the tally. Thamesford also got a goal from Mitch Brooks as well. More assists for Thamesford came via Travis Parkin, Adam Levine, and Kyle Walker, who each chipped in one.

Steinman recorded 36 saves for Mt.Brydges. The Bulldogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Thamesford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
