Hunter's hat trick boosts Thamesford over Mt.Brydges, 10-7

Jake Hunter netted a hat trick to lead the Thamesford Trojans over the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs, 10-7.

Hunter's first goal came 12:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:08 into the second and at 2:48 into the third.

With the win, Thamesford evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Mt.Brydges fell victim to a deadly the Trojans power play, which ripped the Bulldogs for four goals.

Thamesford kept Mt.Brydges' goalie busy throughout the game, and Eric Steinman made 39 saves on 49 shots. The Trojans were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 31 penalty minutes.

Thamesford also got points from Adam Levine, who also tallied one goal and three assists, James Toye, who also had one goal and one assist, and Andrew McLennan, who also registered two goals and one assist. Jason Duncan also scored for Thamesford. In addition, Thamesford received assists from Travis Parkin, who had two, Kyle Walker, who had three, and Ethan Doan and Tyler Vere, who contributed one a piece.

The Bulldogs forced Thamesford goalie Chris Walker to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Mt.Brydges' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Bulldogs finished with 30 penalty minutes.

Mt.Brydges was led by Mike Neely, who racked up two goals and one assist. Neely scored the first of his two goals at 15:49 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Billy Young picked up the assist. Neely's next tally made the score 3-2 Mt.Brydges with 7:27 left in the second period. An interference penalty on Brandyn Di Domenico had put the Bulldogs on the power play. Ryan Battersby provided the assist. Mt.Brydges also got a goal from Grant Johns as well. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Alex Deluce, who had one and David Wade, Nate Cross, Adam Fletcher, and Nick Assissi, who contributed two a piece.

Chris Walker made 44 saves for the Trojans on 51 shots. For Thamesford, Di Domenico and Connor Allison were ejected from the contest. Mt.Brydges registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. The Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Johns was ejected from the game.
