The St. Louis Jr. Blues and the Flint Jr. Generals were evenly matched throughout their contest, but St. Louis made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Daniel Rosse's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The win gave the Jr. Blues a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. St. Louis got the win behind a great game by Joe Bowler, who had one goal and two assists. Bowler scored 13:44 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis. Sam Turner picked up the assist. The Jr. Blues got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. St. Louis additionally got points from Rosse, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Louis also got a goal from Paul OConnor as well. More assists for St. Louis came via Johnny Mueller, who had one. Flint was led by Warren Carter, who registered three goals. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Joshua Kestner, who had two and Kenneth Miloser, Nicholas Goettel, and Timothy Conser, who contributed one a piece. St. Louis' Mitchell Fernsler stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Jr. Blues incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Benjamin Myers made 20 saves for the Jr. Generals on 24 shots. Flint incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
